How to set up a Venue Reference set - Step by step guide

What are Venue Refs?

Questions are prompts guests answer when logging into WiFi. They're useful for market research, lead generation, and promoting new menus/events. 

Types of venue refs: 

• URL: Select a variety of URL to use for individual venues.
  

• Asset-image: Select a variety of images to use for individual venues (Landscape images with 1200px minimum width. JPG or PNG - you just need to upload the assets first (Configure Wifi > Assets))

• Asset-video: Select a variety of videos to use for individual venues (Landscape images with 1200px minimum width. MP4 (h264 video, no audio). Less than 30 seconds long - you just need to upload the assets first (Configure Wifi > Assets)) 

Creating a Venue Ref

1. Head to the "Administration" section and select "Venue Refs."

2. Click on the "Add Venue Reference set" button located in the top right-hand corner.

3. You will be prompted to create the name of venue ref and select the venue ref type then click save.

4. Click the venue ref you have create by clicking the name, or cog and then edit. 

• Name: Venue ref name can be edit here. 

• 

• Add venue: Select the drop down to select the venue you need to add a ref to.

5. Once you've configured the venue reference set to your satisfaction, click "SAVE" to ensure your settings are preserved. 
   
   

• 

• You'll be returned to the Venue Refs Manager, where you can view your newly created venue reference set.

• Make a note of the Venue Ref ID, this will be needed to add the Venue Ref to the login journey.

Adding Venue Refs to your Login Journey

If you have created a Venue Ref set for redirects:

• Make sure the venue reference set is already set up (above section)

• Open the login journey you want to add it to (configure wifi > login journeys)

• Edit the go to URL node. 

  • Insert %venueMetaData.referenceSet[Venue ref id]?URLX% - make sure the correct Venue Ref ID is included in blue highlighted section, and a generic URL is included

If you have created a Venue Ref set for image or video:

• Make sure the venue reference set is already set up and image or video is added to assets section (above section)

• Open the login journey you want to add it to (configure wifi > login journeys)

• Select the shoe page node and select the image or video background drop down to select the venue ref set.
